Below we are discussing some of the popular Pakistani musical bands:
Jal is a pop rock band, beginning was from Lahore, in 2002.
It consists of songwriter, vocalist and lead guitarist, Goher Mumtaz and vocalist, Atif Aslam.
Later on, bass guitarist, Omer Nadeem started working with them.
Band firstly start becoming popular in Lahore with their first song, “Adat”, that was very hit in Pakistan.
Their band started becoming famous with the release of their music video “Adat” by Umer Anwar, in 2003.
After the success of the single song, lead vocalist Atif Aslam left the band.
Then the band started workings with musicians Farhan Saeed on vocals and Aamir Sheraz on bass guitar and released “Bondh” in 2007, “pyaas” in march 2013. In 2011, Farhan Saeed and in 2013, Aamir Sheraz also left the band.
They are still releasing supper hit songs and the upcoming one is “bhanwray”.
Noori is a rock band, beginning was from Lahore, in 1996.
Consisting of songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist, Ali Noor, younger brother Ali Hamza, bassist Muhammad Ali Jafri and drummer Salman.
All others left the band other than the brothers.
After that, Farhad Humayun joined the band and went on releasing several singles i.e. “Jana tha Humne” and “Tum Hans Diyay”, after which Farhad also left.
Afterwards, Louis J. Pinto on drums and Murtaza Jaffar on guitars joined them, and released “Suno K Mai Hon Jawan” in 2003 and Ali Hamza rejoined.
Bassist, Ali Jafri in 2005 and in 2006, Louis J. Pinto left the band. After 2-years, “Do Dil” was released.
However, in 2011, Louis J. Pinto and Ali Jafri rejoin and Noori reunited to its original four-man line up; as it was at the launch of their album.
Strings is a Pakistani pop rock band composing two members, plus four live band members from Karachi.
In 1988 the band was initially formed by four college students Bilal Maqsood (vocals and guitars), Faisal Kapadia (vocals), Rafiq Wazir Ali (synthesizer) and Kareem Bashir Bhoy (bass guitar).
1990 was the year of releasing the first album, Strings.
Two years later the band released their second album, 2, including the single “Sar Kiye Yeh Pahar”.
Maqsood and Kapadia released “Duur” in 2000 and followed it with Dhaani in 2003, including the single “Najane Kyun”
Strings releasing their fifth album, “Koi Aany Wala Hai” with the singles “Zinda” and “Aakhri Alvida” in 2008 bacame more popular.
Aaroh is a rock band, its beginning was from Karachi, in 1998.
Band consisting of lead guitarist Nabeel Nihal Chishty and vocalist Farooq Ahmed, who were joined by keyboardist Kamran Khan, bassist Khalid Khan and drummer Adnan Hussain.
Started achieving fame in 2002, with their live performance in Pakistani rock scene, soon, after that, Hussain was replaced by drummer Jason Anthony.
Then the band released their album, “Sawaal”, in September 2003.
Singles from the album like “Sawaal”, “Na Kaho”, “Jalan” and “Jeeyay” were very successful.
Band members, Ahmed and Chishty left the band in 2004. The band then replaced Chishty with Haider Hashmi on lead guitars.
With new lead guitarist, band went on releasing their second studio album “Raag Neela”.
Farooq Ahmed, vocalist and Haider Hashmi, lead guitarist, went on performing as solo singers, while bassist Khalid Khan went on performing as a session player for band Fuzon.
Awaz is a pop band, its beginning was from Karachi, in 1992. Haroon Rashid was the lead vocalist, who was soon joined by keyboardist Faakhir Mehmood and lead guitarist Asad Ahmed.
Awaz were one of the famous bands of the pop music and were highly talented. They are also regarded as one of the most successful band in Pakistan.
And achieved commercial success in Pakistan with the release of their album in 1993.
Single “Janeman” was a very hit song, composed by lead vocalist Haroon Rashid and written by Sarmed Mirza, in 1992.
And in 1995 the singles “Jadoo Ka Charagh” and “shawa”was released.
In 1996, the band went on to record and release their third studio album, “Shola”, which included their biggest hit song “Mr. Fraudiay”.
Third studio album released and the band fell apart due to the differences among the three members.
